I'm not sure if it diminishes MWB ability to protect my PC or not. But if I do that, I get a worrying message in windows that virus protection has been turned off. I read somewhere that it might possibly be malwarebytes turning it off, the info I read online said to turn off "always register malwarebytes in the windows security center" which is located in settings> security>windows security center. I can turn it on again but it just seems to randomly turn itself off again without warning me. But I noticed window defender keeps get turned off in the windows security. But I renewed my malwarebytes subscription, so I have MWB and windows defender now.

If Windows Defender is not running, none of its features such as “ block at first sight” (cloud protection), controlled folder access will work.Īlthough Malwarebytes company claims “Malwarebytes for Windows makes antivirus obsolete” in their advertisements, many experts don’t agree with that statement.Until recently I used bitdefender with premium malwarebytes, but I allowed my bit defender subscription to end and thought I'd try using windows defender instead. In that case, you’re offered to use Limited Periodic Scanning feature. If Windows detects a third-party anti-virus software, it disables the built-in anti-virus module Windows Defender automatically.Īs you can see above, all of the Virus & threat protection options are missing, as Windows assumes a 3rd party anti-virus solution is installed. The Security and Maintenance applet in the classic Control Panel and Windows Defender Security Center will report that Malwarebytes is currently your “anti-virus” program.
